Virtual reality in quality control, which makes it easier and more successful to detect errors in production, or Digital Twin - a 3D model of the workplace that allows all mechanical processes to be realistically simulated. These are just a few examples of best practices that Škoda Auto is successfully implementing to make digitalization even more competitive. At this year's second Best Practice Company Tour to Mladá Boleslav, hosted by DTIHK on Wednesday 25th September, the partners of the #PartnerForDigitalization platform received practical inspiration on the road to the digital future.
„Even in the process of digitalization, we focus primarily on people and their ability to work with technology. That is the differentiating factor," explains Aleš Beneda, Head of IT Architecture and Platform at Škoda Auto. He points out that technology, which we normally consider the most important, is in fact the last step in the entire process.
The participants of the Best Practice Tour saw not only the pressing of automotive parts in the factory, but above all practical examples of digitalization on the basic principles that developers cleverly use in various technical scenarios. For example, when they find errors more easily in virtual projects, which can then save the company a lot of time and money. The participants could see for themselves that the slogan 'Simply Clever' is not just a marketing slogan - in Mladá Boleslav it is a way of working.
According to Aleš Beneda, there are five factors necessary for a successful digital adaptation. "The first is professionalism in your field of expertise - strong logistics is a precondition for AI-enabled logistics," Beneda explains. The second is a community of experts, he says, and the third is a variety of use cases and a large amount of reliable data. The fourth factor is management support and only the fifth is technology. The fact that Škoda Auto is truly focused on people is demonstrated by the Škoda Space employee portal, for instance, which contains the most important tools, processes and information.
The #PartnerForDigitalization platform was established by DTIHK to promote the digitalization of business processes among its partners, members, public institutions and the media. All partners are convinced that inspiration and experience sharing are the best means to successful digital transformation.
Thanks to the Best Practice Company Tour, participants learn interesting behind-the-scenes information about companies and experience digitalisation first-hand. In the "Management Talk" they discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital approaches and solutions presented during the company visits.
